SICW: Ricky Cruz returns to the ring to avenge Keith Smith Jr., April 7

SICW 4/7/18

Ricky Cruz returns to the ring after a 16 month retirement on Saturday, April 7 at St. James Catholic School in Millstadt, Ill.

Two weeks ago, Cruz threw in the towel to resign Keith Smith Jr.’s (his brother-in-law) match against Chris Hargas.  The disrespect shown by Hargas and Travis Cook enraged Ricky, to the point he challenged “King Christopher” Hargas to a fight.

“It doesn’t even have to be a match; I just want you in the ring!”

The bout is made.  Cruz is not expected to make a full-time return to wrestling after the match.

DPW: Mike Outlaw is back, and he wants Makaze’s title, March 31

Dynamo Pro 3/31/18

The last time Mike Outlaw wore a championship belt in the Gateway City was November 2016, when he lost his Dynamo Pro laurels to Brandon Aarons.  Now Outlaw wants the belt back, and he’ll get his chance on Saturday, March 31 at Concordia Turners in Saint Louis.

The champion’s name is different now; “The Wind of Destruction” Makaze will be opposite Outlaw at the Dynamo Pro Wrestling event, making his fourth consecutive defense.

Also on the card, the final three participants in the six-way D-1 Championship ladder match will be determined.  The final shebang happens April 21.

SICW: Big Daddy tries again for gold, sends Houston to battle Kasa, March 24

“Ironman” Ken Kasa will defend his SICW Classic title for the sixth time on Saturday, March 24 at the East Carondelet Community Center.

His challenger is “Cowboy” Marc Houston, a member of Big Daddy’s stable “The Ax Men.”

NWL: Foundation foes Foster, Jay, & Marti join forces in O’Fallon, March 16

A heated six-person tag match headlines the NWL’s next card at the O’Fallon Elks Lodge in Missouri on Friday, March 16.

Carolina Rodriguez has drawn the ire of Marti Belle.  “Dominican Dynamite” has her chance to get her hands on Carolina in the main event.  The core of The Foundation (Wyatt & Strider) joins Carolina against Marti, along with Jack Foster and Gary Jay.

Big Texan meets J’Mal Swagg, has nearly 100 lb. advantage in heavyweight title bout, March 10.

The South Broadway Athletic Club hosts MMWA Wrestling for the first time in two months on Saturday, March 10.  That’s a big layoff for the SBAC, which has hosted cards every month since 1985, with the exception of only two or three months.

Both of the titles will be at stake.  The Big Texan defends the big belt for the first time, against cruiserweight J’Mal Swagg.  Also, cruiserweight champion Da’Marius Jones defends for the second time, against Johnny Park.

The event is dedicated to the memory of former MMWA-SICW Heavyweight champion Geno “The Exterminator” Harris, who died on January 20 at the age of 56.

WLW: Night of Champions III spectacular in Moscow Mills, March 10

World League Wrestling has really outdone itself this time.

The biggest event of the year for the beloved Lincoln County company is Saturday, March 10 at the Tri-County Sports Center in Moscow Mills, Mo.

Ace Hawkins defends the Missouri State championship against “KB Violence” Karim Brigante of Rome, Italy.  Brigante is a former Missouri champ, holding the defunct NWA Central-States version in early 2017.

Besides the legends set to appear, Scott Steiner will compete in a match.  Kyle Roberts has selected the former world heavyweight champion as his partner to vie for the WLW tag team title.

Wrestling returns to the East Carondelet Community Center on Saturday, February 17. The main event is “Ironman” Ken Kasa’s fifth defense of the SICW title against “Big Country” Clint Poe (to be accompanied by Big Daddy).

This is Poe’s first title shot.

Jack Gamble is out for revenge against Leland Race, who recently savagely assaulted Gamble’s longtime friend and tag partner Jon Webb.  The WLW Heavyweight title is not on the line.

DPW: Strong tournament for vacant D-1 title begins, Jan. 20

Dynamo Pro 1/20/18

Dynamo Pro Wrestling begins the new year with a hunt for a new D-1 champion on Saturday, January 20 at Concordia Turners in Saint Louis.

Over the next few events, a round of qualifying bouts will determine which six wrestlers will compete in a final match for the promotion’s secondary title.

Plus, Makaze defends the big belt against “The Valediction” Keon Option.
